VISION

Through a forward-looking vision, complemented by action, much success has been achieved for Montville Schools.

  • In September 2017, the voters of Montville overwhelmingly approved a $17.2 million referendum (final cost to taxpayers was $11 million due to grants offsetting costs) to provide funding for roof replacement projects, renovation of Media Centers in the middle school and 5 elementary schools, upgrade of student bathrooms in all 7 schools, update of HVAC controls in all 7 schools, update all-purpose rooms and gymnasiums in all 7 schools and complete air conditioning in remaining non air-conditioned instructional spaces in all seven schools.  These upgrades put the district in a well-equipped position to address the ventilation protocols required by the pandemic.
  • The district is proud of its one-to-one Chromebook plan (initiated in the 2017-2018 school year). Combined with the implementation of the Schoology Learning Management Plan in September 2019, the district was ahead of many others in making the sudden transition to remote learning in March 2020.

  • Following input from a New Website Committee, a new district website was launched in July 2019.
  • Newsletter and social media presence established.
  • All Montville Township Schools were re-certified as attaining Bronze Level certification through the Sustainable Jersey for Schools Program in June 2020.

The District will implement a plan to promote academic acceleration and learning retention to address the impact of the pandemic.

COMMITMENT

With a combined 49+ years of dedication to Montville schools, Grau, Cortellino, and Modrak exemplify commitment.

  • In September 2019, the Board, through an agreement with Township Officials, implemented a School Resource Officer and a Class III Officer at the high school.  The district will add a Class III Officer at the middle school in September 2021. New safety and security measures were implemented at all schools.

  • In 2018, the district engaged with New Jersey’s Clean Energy Program to have free energy audits conducted in all of the district buildings.  As a result of the audit, the district was able to engage in an Energy Savings Improvement Program (ESIP) involving various projects, such as the installation of new energy saving light fixtures in all school buildings and the expansion of the use of solar panels at several schools in the district.  These upgrades are designed to provide significant energy savings for the district over time.

  • The district is currently engaged in reviewing and revising the curriculum to address the requirements set forth in the New Jersey Student Learning Standards to ensure that students are exposed to a wide variety of information and perspectives.

  • Instituted innovative programs: Original Science Research, Humanities Research, changes to World Language at the middle and high schools, revamped the Gifted and Talented programs.
  • Certified Spring 2020.

  • Through Board Certification (BC), the BMA recognizes mastery of the unique aspects of group process.
